Airports and flights
The main incoming airports for international flights arriving in Brazil are
- São Paulo International Airport - GRUAirport (GRU), in Guarulhos city, near São Paulo capital, and
- Tom Jobim International Airport - RIOGaleão (GIG), in Rio de Janeiro city.
While traveling to João Pessoa, one of these airports will often be the departure point of your trip inside Brazil. From there, the common options are:
- to take a direct/connection flight arriving at the International Airport of João Pessoa - President Castro Pinto (JPA).
- to take a direct/connection flight arriving at the International Airport of Recife - Gilberto Freyre (REC) and complete the route by roadway. Recife city is far from João Pessoa by around 123 km (76.4 miles).
Buses, taxis and ride apps
- Once at JPA airport, you can reach us by taxi services or ride apps.
- Otherwise, if you choose a stop-by at REC airport, you should either take a taxi or ride directly to João Pessoa (recommended), or use one of the services to go first to the Recife's Bus Station. From there, you will find a couple of companies that have bus lines with direct trip to João Pessoa's Bus Station leaving approximately each 30 minutes. Once in João Pessoa, you should take a taxi or ride to the campus.
University shuttle service
UFPB can sometimes provide shuttle services from JPA or REC with no cost based on a strict booking rule. Before traveling, consult our international office and your host at the university about the service's availability. If you get a shuttle, you will receive all the necessary information of your trip.
Campus directions
Campus I - João Pessoa is used to be the entrance door for incoming people at UFPB, mainly undergraduate students. However, if you are an invited lecturer, visiting professor, post-doctoral researcher, or institutional guest, this might not be the case. Whatever is your profile, contact our international office and your host at UFPB to receive safe information on transportation, accommodation or other services necessary for your sojourn.
Campus I is a university city located at the heart of Castelo Branco district. To view the GPS coordinates on a map, click here. By walking during 30 minutes, you could cross the entire campus and reach all in-place Teaching Centers and services easily. Consult our international office for detailed information on campus' facilities.
