About us

The Brazilian Northeast is privileged in terms of renewable energy sources, and interesting for modern development projects, which has attracted the attention of researchers in the search for solutions to the problems faced by the region.

The Graduate Program in Renewable Energy (PPGER) originated from efforts to undertake research in renewable energy in the state of Paraíba, to help train specialists and professionals to meet the growing demands in the labor market and problems associated with renewable energy and the consequent technical, economic, technological, geopolitical and environmental challenges.

PPGER positions itself in the direction of valuing the qualification of professors, researchers and other professionals in renewable energy. With the Academic Master Degree we enable students to develop constructive pedagogical practices, carry out ethical and responsible activities and contribute to the advancement of scientific and technological knowledge. Our research lines are themes of increasing demand in the country and in the North and Northeast regions, being a vector for sustainable growth. Through the national plan for the expansion of undergraduate courses (REUNI), PPGER contributes to the strengthening of the Undergraduate course in Renewable Energy Engineering, sharing cutting-edge knowledge with the undergraduate course. This also places PPGER in the position of facilitating the entry of graduate students.

In this context, the PPGER has the mission of promoting quality teaching and research in engineering applied to renewable energy. We aim to foster and train qualified human resources and leaders in the area of renewable energy, based on energy sustainability and scientific / technological development at regional, national and international levels.

PPGER counts with highly qualified personnel and partnerships with Spain, Canada, and the UK (among others) that provide a truly international character to the program. In addition, PPGER has the required research infrastructure that has already enabled the development of products and processes (patents) aimed at regional development with broad potential for dissemination, involving students and professors of the program. Also noteworthy is a progressive improvement in the program's infrastructure, through project financing, as well as investments by the institution.
